She is one of the representatives of KIRANA GHARANA in Classical & Light-Classical Music of India. She has started her musical-journey in the age of four years in a musical- family. Being a high-graded Artist of All India Radio, Kolkata & Television—Dr. Roy Manna has the Musical-Variety. Beside being a renowned vocalist, she is a Lyricist, Composer, Poet, Author and Examiner too. She was awarded Ph.D. Degree from Rabindra Bharati University in the year 2002, being an U.G.C. Research - Fellow after her outstanding results in B.A. (Honours) & M.A.
SUJATA achieved her Taalim in Dhrupad, Khayal , Thumri, Dadra, Ghazal, Bhajan & Other streams of Vocal-Music from the respected Gurus like Late Ajay Sinha Roy, Pt. Arun Bhaduri, Late Sukumar Mitra, Sri. Kumar Ray & Sri. Aloke Chattopadhyay. She came across with the eminent Maestros for short-time Taalim through her performances-Padmabibhushan Dr. Ali Akbar Khan, Bharat-Ratna Pt. Bhimsen Joshi & Vidushi Girija Devi. Moreover, Dr. Sujata is a playback-Singer & regular performer & Examiner too. She is a Senior Assistant Professor by profession for seventeen years. Her musical career & the creative-works are well-encouraged by her husband Mr. Jagannath Manna, who gives her the true inspiration in Music.
