Shikha Nath was born in a most renowned musical family of Hindusthani Classical Music at Kharagpur, West Bengal. Her father late Bijoy Kumar Nath was a well know Sitarist of his time. Naturally Shikha bears the cultural heritage of her father.
She has always been sincere in her utmost struggle to keep herself submerged in deep creation. She took her first Lesson at a very childhood from her father with a great affection. Thereafter, she had her lesson in Indian classical music under the affectionate care and guidance from world renowned Sitar maestro Pandit Indranil Bhattacharya for a long time. After his sudden demise, she used to take lesson under the affectionate tutelage of Pandit Santosh Bandopadhay till today. Moreover, she was immensely inspired by her three Guruma (Smt. Shantilata Nath, Smt. Shikha Bhattacharya and Bidushi Chabi bandyopadhayay). Nowdays she also used to take vocal training from Guruma Bidushi Chabi Bandyopadhayay. Since 1995 she was attached with AIR and a regular artist of Akashvani, Kolkata. She has been holding public performances since 1975. She was awarded “SANGEET VISHARAD” from Akhil Bharatiya Gandharba Mahavidyalaya Mondal, Miraj in the year 1978.
