Saurabh Vartak developed a fascination for classical music at a tender age. At the age of eight he started his basic lessons of Harmonium at Gandharva Maha Vidyalaya,Pune. At the age of twelve he refined and polished his skills for 12 years under the guidance of Shri Madhav Marne , a senior disciple of Harmonium Maestro Pandit Appa Saheb Jagaonkar.
In the year 2002 , he attended a Live performance of the Legendry flautist Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia at the Sawai Gandharva Music Festival and was spellbound by Panditji’s magical and mellifluous performance and from that day he determined to learn basuri.
He is a disciple of the legendary flautist Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia and Saurabh accompanies his Guru Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia ji very often.
He is a versatile artist with focus on pure classical solos , duets and fusion music .
Saurabh has performed with the ace percussionist Ustad Taufiq Qureshi . Saurabh has got the privilege of working with Ustad Taufiq Qureshi in some of his recording works and background scores in movies.
He is an electronics and telecommunication engineer with distinction from Pune University .
