Born in 1952, Swaraj Mukherjee received his training in vocal classical music from Pandit Sitaram Hari Dandekar, a renowned disciple of Pandit Vinayak Rao Patwardhan of Gwalior Gharana.
Swaraj Mukherjee gifted with a blissful melodious voice is the most admired disciple of Pandit Sitaram Hari Dandekar of Pune.
Swaraj Mukherjee, a degree holder in Mechanical Engineering retired from the Heavy Engineering Corporation, Ranchi, Jharkhand in 2012 as Senior Deputy General Manager and is now exclusively engaged in the musical activities
. He has rendered several performances from Doordarshan Kendra, Muzaffarpur, Bihar and also from Doordarshan Kendra, Ranchi, Jharkhand. He performed at the Sitaram Hari Dandekar Music Conference held at Muzaffarpur, Bihar in 2006, where he was especially honoured for his intense devotion to Hindustani Classical Music.
Apart from the performances of Khayal, he is also greatly admired for Bhajans rendered with mellifluous melodies.
