The name “Tarang” was devised by the founder and director of the “Tarang” Group Mr. Subhasis Sabyasachi after the name “Brojo-Tarang” which was invented by his revered Guru. Sri Brojen Biswas.
“Tarang” in Bengali means vibration – Vibration of air, Vibration of media, Vibration of sound etc. The Group in the name of “Tarang” which is getting its recognition in the Country & outside. Got its start in the year of 2006.
The popular “Tarang-Group” sometimes perform in the name of “Delhi-Brothers”.
Primarily this Group deals with the Own-Composition & Composition of Barman’s. Besides ‘Classical’, ‘Rabindra Sangeet’ & ‘Folk Songs’ on different perspectives are also being played.
Sri Sabyasachi is reluctant to use the word “BAND” instead of ‘GROUP’. He rather likes to use “TARANG” – PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA…
ALONG WITH THE GREEN MOVEMENT:-
‘Bamboo’- is booming!! … TARANG Present ‘Bamboo Symphony Orchestra’ it’s very unique. Subhasis got his idea from his dedicated GURU. It is proud privilege on his part that he got the consent in undergoing training & making process of ‘Brojo-Taranga’ under the able guidance of eminent percussionist Lt. Brojen Biswas. The concept of a symphony led by ‘Brojo-Taranga’ with ‘Bamboo- flute’ , may be unique in the ‘World – Music’ (A new instrument ‘Brojo-Taranga’ from Bamboo – Sticks, by which Indian Classical ‘Raga’ can be played). When led by ‘Brojo-Taranga’ & ‘Bamboo- flute’ where others musician will used different type of ‘Bamboo- instrument’ like Duff, Khomok,Ek-Tara, Guitar and the like.
Story – “ It was July 1986, while Brojen Biswas was attending his ailing mother at deep night, a ‘Bamboo stick’ fell on the ground creating a tinkling sound. He got the idea of a musical note in it. Creator of this instrument completely ‘blind’. This instrument was named by the famous composer of Bollywood (Mumbai) S. D. Burman.”
