A discerning critic once said about Mallika that every performance of hers is a soulful experience for the listeners.  Only a dedicated artist who constantly thrives for perfection and has a rich repertoire can receive such accolades. Dr. Mallika Banerjee was initiated into music at an early age by her mother Smt. Parul Banerjee, a well-known vocalist. After finishing her post-graduation in Hindustani Classical Music from Delhi University Mallika came under the tutelage of an eminent exponent of Delhi Gharana Prof. Krishna Bisht. Dr. Mallika Banerjee’s performances are marked for purity of raga, graceful expressions, well-woven phrases, and smoothly rendered taans. Since her debut performance in Bharat Bhavan, Bhopal, which propelled her to critical acclaim; she has gone from strength to strength. Her proficiency and maturity as a vocalist can be seen in her skillful renditions of khayal, thumri as well as light classical forms. Dr. Banerjee is an ‘A’ grade artiste of All India Radio and has performed in all esteemed programmes of Akashvani and Door-Darshan such as National  Programme of Music, Sangeet Sammelan and various public performances organized by AIR Jaipur, AIR Lucknow and All India Radio Archives. Mallika is working presently as faculty in School of Performing and Visual Arts, IGNOU and guiding research scholars as a supervisor.
