India's Ace Flutist needs no introduction to music lovers all over the globe. By virtue of his phenomenal talent, he and the Bansuri are literally synonymous. If the flute is likened to a temple, Pt. Ronu Majumdar would be its foremost worshipper. Ranendranath Majumdar, popularly known as Ronu Majumdar is a force to reckon with in the realm of Indian classical music both as a thinking musician and scintillating performer. Ronu Majumdar began playing the flute under the guidance of his father Dr. Bhanu Majumdar, late Pt. Lakshman Prasad Jaipurwale and finally the revered Pt. Vijay Raghav Rao. He was also fortunate to receive training from his grand guru Pt. Ravi Shankar. A powerhouse performer, Ronu Majumdar is firmly rooted in the Maihar gharana which has also given shape to sturdy musical oaks like Pt. Ravi Shankar and Ustad Ali Akbar Khan. He has been felicitated with numerous remarkable accolades for his mesmerizing performances worldwide.

Ronuji has created an enviable niche for himself in the field of contemporary popular music which is exemplified by his Grammy Nomination in 1996.

Barun Kumar Pal is one of India's eminent and senior artistes. In the year 1972-73, he was the first artiste given an A Grade in Indian classical and light music on guitar by All India Radio.

Barun Kumar comes from an enlightened family of stalwarts of Indian classical music. A child prodigy, he performed at age 6 in front of Jawaharlal Nehru, India's first Prime Minister. And since he was 6 years old, Barun Kumar has been performing as a solo player and taking part in the seniors’ national orchestras in concerts and on All India Radio.

Barun Kumar is one of the pioneers in introducing the Hawaiian slide guitar in the world of Indian classical music. By adding sympathetic strings (as far back as 1971), changing the tuning method and techniques of playing, he improvised the Hawaiian guitar into a complete Indian Instrument suitable for rendering Indian ragas.

With his dedication and hard work, Barun became the disciple of sitar maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar in 1978. Since then, as a senior disciple, Barun Kumar has worked with Panditji in many of his historical presentations and is part of the faculty at the Ravi Shankar Centre in New Delhi.

Barun Kumar has performed prestigious concerts extensively in India and all over the world.

He has several audio discs, cassettes and CDs released all over the globe.

His unique blending of the sitar and veena playing styles is remarkable and has created a firm position in the traditional Tantrakari Baaz (instrumental style) of Indian classical music. The Gayaki-ang (vocal style) with emotional rendering is reflected in his playing of the ragas.

Sopori hails from Sopore in Kashmir Valley and traces his lineage to ancient Santoor experts. He belongs to the Sufiana gharana of Indian classical music. His family has played santoor for over six generations. His first public performance was at a conference organised by Prayag Sangeet Samiti & the University of Allahabad when he was 10 years old.

Sopori has taught music at Washington University, US. His performances have been broadcast in India and seen by both cultural associations there and by audiences in countries such as Belgium, Egypt, England, Germany, Norway, Syria and the USA. Pandit Sopori, considered as the cultural link between Jammu and Kashmir and rest of India, also runs a music academy called SaMaPa(Sopori Academy for Music and Performing Arts), which is actively involved in promoting Indian classical music. SaMaPa is involved in promoting music with jail inmates, with the objective of using music for healing the prisoners and creating an emotional bond between the society & the prisoners. The academy has trained several musicians and revived old instruments. It was presented the state government dogri award in 2011.
Shujaat Husain Khan is perhaps the greatest North Indian classical musician of his generation. He belongs to the Imdadkhani Gharana (tradition) of the sitar (lute) and is the seventh in the unbroken line from his family that has produced many musical masters. His style known as the gayaki ang, is imitative of the subleties of the human voice.

Shujaat Husain Khan is the son and disciple of master sitarist Ustad Vilayat Khan. His musical pedigree continues back through his grandfather, Ustad Inayat Khan, his great-grandfather Ustad Imdad Khan and his great-great-grandfather, Ustad Sahebdad Khan - all leading artist of their generation. At the age of three Shujaat began practicing on a specially made small sitar, and by the time he was six, the child prodigy started giving public performances.

Manilal Nag - born in the Bankura District of West Bengal - is recognized in serious music circles as one of the most talented and serious exponents of classical sitar. He comes from a family of musicians who have evolved the Vishnupur Gharana, a style of music that originated nearly 300 years ago. His grandfather, Govinda Nag, and his great-great-grandfather, Bauridas Nag, were both distinguished sitarists in their times.

At the age of four, Manilal was initiated in the art of sitar playing by his father, the famous sitar master Sangeetacharya Gokul Nag. After 10 years of strict musical studies and practice, Manilal made his stage debut in the All-India Music Conference, accompanied by Pandit Shanta Prasad on tabla. Since then he has become one of the most popular and sought-after concert sitarists, performing regularly in music conferences held throughout India.

Manilal's style retains the depth, resonance and sensitivity of the Dhrupad Ang in the alap, followed by an extensive range of taans, gamaks and tihais in the jor, and the use of subtle and lilting phrasing in the jhala. Through this combination, he brings to perfection the delicacy and sentiment of every raga. He is a master of improvisation and possesses the rare ability to breathe life and originality into a classical theme, thereby molding it into a living and captivating form.

Manilal has also had the unique opportunity of maintaining close proximity to such great musicians as Zia Mohiuddin Dagar, Majid Khan, Amir Khan, Kanthe Maharaj, Ahmedjan Thirakwa, and many others with an open mind and heart.
