Pandit Ananda Gopal Bandopadhyay is a very famous tabla player of Benaras Gharana. He had his initial training from his father Shri Radha Gopal Bandopadhyay. An ardent admirer of the "sangat" he became the disciple of Pt. Mahadeo Prasad Mishra of Benaras Gharana who formally trained him into an accomplished tablist. Numerous musical performances by renowned artistes started throbbing with life with the magical touch of his fingers on the tabla. At the tender age of 18, he won the first prize in tabla in the ALL INDIA RADIO Competition. At present, he is a Top Grade artiste of All India Radio and Doordarshan.

Traversing a brilliant career, this sensitive tabla player is successful both as a soloist as well as an accompanist. His sense of understanding has endeared him to musicians and music lovers. His popularity took him to many places like United States, U.K., Canada, South America, Italy, Germany, Holland, Berlin, Dubai, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Bangladesh, etc.

He participated and performed in the programmes and workshops organised for the Festival of India at Maryland, Boston, New York and San Francisco. He also performed 'JUGALBANDI' concerts organised by the Bharatiya Bidya Bhavan of New York, USA and Canada.

Apart from these performances, he was associated with many prestigious organisations Song and Drama Division, Delhi, Faculty of Music & Fine Arts, University of Delhi, Amir Khusroo Society of Chicago. Nowadays, he is a senior Tabla Musician of the Faculty of ITC Sangeet Research Academy, Kolkata.

As sought after tabla accompanist, he is successful in both live and recording performances. As a result he has numerous cassettes, albums and CDs of many classical music to his credit. This solo album comprises of Teentaal (16 Beats), Mattataal (9 Beats), Rupak (7 Beats) & Kaharwa (8 Beats). Pt. Ananda Gopal Bandopadhyay is accompanied on the harmonium by Sanatan Goswami.
